Vicar (Seminary Intern)
Trinity is a teaching congregation of the ELCA. This means that we are a site for seminarians preparing for pastoral ministry to spend a year of full-time internship under the supervision of Pastor Neumark and with the support and guidance of an Internship Committee and of the entire congregation. We also welcome part-time field work students from nearby seminaries. This is a wonderful, reciprocal ministry whereby Trinity gives and receives.
We have the custom of calling our interns by the title “Vicar.”
Trinity’s 2018-2019 intern is Vicar Abigail Cress who writes:
Hello, I am Vicar Abby Cress. I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington near most of my family - I am the oddball in the family, to move so far away! Between college and seminary, I worked as a preschool teacher, and served for a year in East Jerusalem with the ELCA's Young Adult in Global Mission (YAGM). The last two years I have been living and studying at the Gettysburg campus of United Lutheran Seminary. This is my first time in New York City, so I am excited to soak up life in the City! I enjoy cooking, including trying out new dishes and making some of my favorites from Jerusalem. I miss picking fresh veggies out of the garden back home, so I'll have to check out the neighborhood markets before the weather turns. Thanks TLC community, for your gracious welcome and hospitality!
