We will share the calming and lovely Holden Evening Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on the Wednesdays during Advent (Dec, 4, 11 and 18). This will be a brief and beautiful service of music, prayer, and reflection. In a time of year that is often filled with very busy schedules and long to-do lists, we invite you to step into this tranquil, reflective space and prepare for Christ’s coming through worship and prayer. All are welcome!

The International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers was first organized nearly a decade ago in San Francisco to memorialize the people murdered by serial killer Gary Ridgway. Ridgway captured the attitude that cultivates violence towards sex workers: “I picked prostitutes because I thought I could kill as many of them as I wanted without getting caught.” At this event, we create a space that challenges this assumption by demonstrating the strength and solidarity of a caring community.

On December 17, sex workers, former sex workers, families, friends, allies, and all who encompass a caring community will gather at Trinity at 7 pm to hold a vigil for those killed every year because they trade sex and are vulnerable to violence. The event will feature speakers, prayer, a candle lighting, and a reading of the names of people in the sex trade who have been murdered this year.

We have a number of meaningful giving opportunities.

1.    Christmas is always a tough time for the young people in our shelter. You can brighten their holiday with stocking stuffers (10 stockings are hanging in the back of the church) and/or contribute towards the $50 gift cards we give each resident. Simply donate money via check or cash payable to Trinity Place Shelter.

2.    Our Wee Worshippers will lead our collecting money for the ELCA Global Barnyard which provides animals that help families in developing nations feed themselves.

The options above are for special giving. We are still behind our on regular giving and are hoping to lower our operating deficit. December 15th will be “Close the Gap” Sunday. Please contribute as you can!
